Printed matter
Hotel. Tanam Press, New York, NY
Theresa Hak Kyung Cha’s Exilée, drawn from her eponymous film installation, and Temps Morts first appeared in the anthology Hotel published by Tanam Press, where the artist served as an editor after moving to New York in 1980. These titles, while representing distinct works, jointly explore the condition of exile as being dead time. Under the same imprint, the artist released her seminal writings Dictée and Apparatus. Cha’s work spans performances, films, poetry, and artists’ books, forming an interdisciplinary oeuvre that has significantly reshaped our understanding of culture, history, language, and media.
