PESTS was originally an anonymous group of artists in New York City intent on exposing the rampant discrimination and exclusion of artists of color by museums and in commercial galleries. Founded in 1986, PESTS produced flyers and posters showcasing these issues of discrimination. While the group as a whole remains anonymous, artists Nina Kuo and Howardina Pindell have publicly stated they were a part of the organization.
