Jean Chiang’s Past 1984, Present 2024 Perfect reconstitutes a piece of her original work exhibited at the Basement Workshop’s Catherine Gallery in 1984. While the original welded legs no longer exist, the ceramic head remains intact from the Catherine Gallery exhibition. Working in a variety of mediums, Chiang’s artwork reflects her interests in her family history, Chinese culture, and philosophy. Also a member of the Basement Workshop, Chiang assisted in the organization’s children’s arts workshops.Chiang is pictured in a photograph by ChingMing Cheung with her sister, Fay Chiang at the 1984 exhibition’s opening.
