Founded in 1975 by Peter Chow, Danny N.T. Yung, Thomas Tam, and Christine Choy, Asian CineVision (ACV) originated as Chinese Cable TV (CCTV) providing accessible Chinese language programming. ACV soon reframed its work to produce and exhibit films about Asian American experiences. ACV launched the Asian American International Film Festival in 1978 in New York’s Lower East Side. In 1981, ACV took over the publication of Bridge from the Basement Workshop until ending publication in 1985. ACV hosted the 47th Asian American International Film Festival in August 2024.
