Nina Kuo is a painter, photographer, and multimedia artist living and working in New York City. As a CETA-funded artist, Kuo was a part of the Basement Workshop, helping to organize exhibitions including Images From A Neglected Past. She was also the first resident artist of the Asian American Arts Centre. Kuo’s work often explores themes of Asian American feminism and identity.While Kuo worked at Basement, she frequently interacted with other artists and performers. At Basement, Kuo met Theodora “Teddy” Yoshikami, a fellow Basement staff member and dancer. When Yoshikami later formed the Morita Dance Company, Kuo photographed their performances.
