The product of a workshop led by Sharmistha Ray, Brooklyn-based QTPOC/nonbinary artist, arts writer, and educator sharmistharay.com, this collaborative large-scale art piece connects past NYU Reads titles: Klara and the Sun, Braiding Sweetgrass, Just Mercy, Exit West, and Educated. Ray's workshop used the principles of hope, grounding, and connection and a process called White Light Meditation to explore the ways in which collaboration can help foster community through making art collectively. Participants were guided to think about how color resides in our bodies and can be activated for healing.
