Rory Jackson
Grandmas house (2023)
Acrylic, yarn, clay, paper mâche, and glitter on four different canvases
3’ x 3’
This piece is of my grandmother’s home, where she used to play many different imaginary games with me as a child. I wanted to create an artwork that represented not that room exactly but the feeling the room gave me when I was little. Lately I have been working with many mediums in an effort to create a textual feeling that exhibits a playful and visually interesting experience for the viewer.

Artist Statement
With my artwork, I am currently focusing on using textures and levels within my paintings. I want to disassemble the idea of my art on the wall being sacred, I like the idea of people being able to touch and textually experience my paintings. I am in performance as well so currently in my art I am working on the joining of these two mediums in some way. I want the viewer to be able to interact with the art in front of them and if that means touching it to fully experience the piece I want to encourage that.
