Los números del 31-100 (Numbers 31 to 100)

(See alt text in this document)

Something to note about: "cien" and "ciento" is that although both relate to the number one hundred, they are used differently depending on the context.

  • When exactly 100, you say cien.
  • When counting beyond 100 (like 101, 122, 199, etc.), you use ciento.
  • When using numbers as quantifiers before nouns (rather than counting), "ciento uno" changes to "ciento un" before masculine nouns. For example: “ciento un dálmatas” (see image below). This change does not occur with feminine nouns, where you use "ciento una", as in: “ciento una uvas” 🍇

Here are some more examples:

  • Tengo cien amigos. 🧑‍🤝‍🧑
  • I have one hundred friends.
  • Tengo ciento un amigos. 🎉
  • I have one hundred and one friends.
  • Hay ciento veinte estudiantes en la escuela. 🏫
  • There are one hundred and twenty students at the school.
