Tom Hancocks
Tom Hancocks is a New York–based, self-taught designer known for his CGI and 3D digital work that blurs physical and virtual reality. He embraces errors in translation, creating fantastical digital furniture whose exaggerated sculptural forms have a haunting presence, circulating on social media and other digital platforms. He often uses chairs as anthropomorphic stand-ins in virtual environments—intentionally stripping away physical constraints to evoke spectral moods and speculative forms—challenging conventional design notions of materiality and function by exploring the affective and immaterial dimensions of furniture design.
