Here are some prompts to help you practice your writing skills. You can make a copy of this Google Doc and work on it at your leisure. Remember to use the vocabulary and grammar used in the chapter, without any outside help!
Prompt 1: You have invited a few classmates over for dinner. Write a message to one of them describing what you plan to cook and how you are preparing the table. Talk about the types of food you usually eat, what your favorite dishes are, and if you know (saber) how to cook them or just know (conocer) a great place to buy them. Mention any special table customs from your home or culture. Ask your friend what they usually eat and if they enjoy cooking or setting the table.
Prompt 2: You are staying with a host family in a Spanish-speaking country. Write an email to a friend to tell them about your experience. Describe the food you eat with the family, what new dishes you try, and how they set the table. Say if you know how (saber) to cook something or if you know (conocer) someone there who cooks well. Also, talk about how you feel physically (mention one part of your body) and what you do to stay healthy. Use reflexive verbs and adverbs of time and frequency like a veces (sometimes), siempre (always), por la mañana (in the morning), nunca (never), etc.
Prompt 3: Write a blog post titled Mi rutina diaria saludable. Describe your daily routine using reflexive verbs, and explain what you do in the morning, during the day, and at night. Include details about how often you do certain activities, like exercising, relaxing, or studying. Use adverbs of time and frequency such as por la mañana, por la noche, a veces, siempre, and nunca. Make sure to include at least five reflexive verbs in the present tense, and end your post by asking your readers to share their own daily routines and habits.
Prompt 4: Write a dialogue between two students who are talking between classes. They are discussing how they feel today, what part of their body might be bothering them, and how they usually take care of their health. Each student should describe some part of their routine using reflexive verbs and mention how often they do things like eating well, exercising, or relaxing. They should also use saber and conocer—for example, to ask if the other knows how to cook something healthy or knows a good place to eat.
