Here are some prompts to help you practice your writing skills. You can make a copy of this Google Doc and work on it at your leisure. Remember to use the vocabulary and grammar used in the chapter, without any outside help!

Prompt 1: You just spent a weekend filled with artistic activities. Write a message to a classmate describing what you did. Mention what kinds of music you listened to, if you danced (and to what), and whether you visited a gallery or saw any paintings, drawings, or sculptures. Use estar + past participle to describe the condition or result of what you saw (e.g., La galería estaba decorada). Talk about your preferences using comparisons (e.g., El jazz es mejor que el pop) and describe what art forms or music genres you like most. Include at least one use of a direct or indirect object pronoun and ask your friend what types of music or art they prefer.

Prompt 2: You are taking an art or music appreciation class in a Spanish-speaking country. Write an email to a friend telling them what you're learning. Describe the styles of music or dance you are exploring (e.g., la salsa, el flamenco), and explain what artworks or artists you’ve learned about (e.g., Frida Kahlo, Picasso, muralistas). Talk about any field trips, like museum visits, and describe artworks using estar + participio pasado.

Prompt 3: Write a blog post titled El arte y yo describing your personal relationship with the arts. Talk about what music and dance styles you enjoy, which ones you think are more popular or more difficult than others (e.g., El tango es más difícil que la cumbia), and what art forms you prefer (e.g., el óleo vs los acrílicos). Use comparisons of equality or inequality, mention at least one activity in the past participle form with estar (e.g., El cuadro está roto), and use both direct and indirect object pronouns where appropriate. End your post by asking your readers about their favorite artistic expressions.

Prompt 4: Write a dialogue between two students during a break between classes. They are talking about a recent art or music event they attended, like a concert or gallery visit. Each student should talk about the music or art they saw, compare their preferences, and use estar + participio to describe the state of things (e.g., La exposición estaba organizada). The dialogue must include at least one use of double object pronouns and two comparisons.
