Here are some prompts to help you practice your writing skills. You can make a copy of this Google Doc and work on it at your leisure. Remember to use the vocabulary and grammar used in the chapter, without any outside help!

Prompt 1: You are telling a friend about a recent date or a fun outing with someone you like. Describe where you went, what you did, and what the person was like. Use preterite verbs (regular, irregular, or stem-changing) to say what happened. Mention how you felt and why the moment was special. Ask your friend about their last fun date or if they’ve been on any memorable outings lately.

Prompt 2: You just read a horoscope that made you laugh—and maybe think a little! Write to a classmate about your zodiac sign and whether or not you believe in astrology. Talk about your personality and how compatible you are with your friends or someone you like. Use the imperfect tense to describe how you used to be as a child (Yo era tímido…) and whether your sign "matches" who you were then. Ask your classmate what their sign is and their thoughts about it.

Prompt 3: You’re writing a message to a friend about a holiday or tradition you celebrated as a child. Describe what the celebration was, where it took place, and who was there. Use the imperfect to talk about how you celebrated it every year, and the preterite to describe one specific year that was especially fun or different. Ask your friend if they celebrated the same holiday or have a different tradition in their culture or family.

Prompt 4: You just heard the story of how two people met and fell in love (it could be your parents, grandparents, or a fictional couple). Tell the story to a friend. Use the imperfect to describe what life was like for each person before they met, and the preterite to explain what happened when they finally met and started dating. Include where they met, what they liked to do together, and whether they had anything in common. Ask your friend if they know a love story like that.
