SWAY, 2023

Film

SWAY is an ecofeminist filmic response to the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change reports that find colonial capitalism as a major driver in climate change. With an all-femme cast and crew, this short film depicts the multi-layered impacts of global western capitalism on vulnerable demographics through the feminine gaze, somatic inquiry, dance, and collaged poetry. It aims to highlight the importance of femme-led initiatives like the International Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers, Intersectional Environmentalism and Climate Words.

SWAY is directed and orated by Ana Anu, assistant directed by Hana Anwar, produced by Nina Riley, choreographed by Catalina Lamboy. The artist extends gratitude to NYU Art & Public Policy faculty, Climate Words, and EMERGE NYC.
