Here are some prompts to help you practice your writing skills. You can make a copy of this Google Doc and work on it at your leisure. Remember to use the vocabulary and grammar used in the chapter, without any outside help!

Prompt 1: Imagine you are a student who just received a job interview invitation. Write a formal email thanking the company or person for the opportunity. Politely ask any questions you have about the interview, such as the date, time, place, dress code, or required documents. Use formal language and expressions appropriate for a professional setting.

Prompt 2: Write an informal message to a friend who just graduated. Give them advice using informal commands about what to do after university (for example, “Look for a job,” “Don’t forget to update your resume”). Use pronouns with the commands and be kind and encouraging.

Prompt 3: Write a dialogue between a student and an academic advisor. The student needs help planning studies after university. The advisor uses formal commands to give instructions and advice (for example, “Complete this form,” “Study the graduate options”). The student responds with questions or comments. Use commands with pronouns when possible.

Prompt 4: Write an announcement for a job opening or internship program directed at recent graduates. Use formal commands to explain what documents they need to send and the steps to follow (for example, “Submit your application,” “Attach your recommendation letter”). Make sure to include pronouns in the commands and use clear, direct language.
