Artist Statement
A surreal, body-horror adjacent adaptation of The Great Masturbator. Dalí's conflicted emotions on the topic of sex due to inappropriate childhood exposure is adapted into a disgusted viewpoint of how modern day people treat anime-styled girls — and by extension, Asian girls — as a mechanism for male-oriented sexual fantasies. The work reflects sexual anxiety from a different standpoint than Dalí's work, but both stem from a place of sexual trauma and subsequent manufactured disgust.
