Much of my life and work in libraries has concerned the digital, collections of born-digital art and media, transferred from various carrier types, floppy disks, optical media, hard drives, software for viewing ever aging formats, writing code to move and package hundreds of files at scale, various computational systems and standards for the modeling, description, ingest*, and storage of archival material as data. Abstractions on abstractions on abstractions. Wondering how to show up honestly in our institutions is one question, how to show up honestly and fully at the terminal felt like another.
